In a statement, the initiative said it had completed the exhumation of the remains of Kamu Elias Ali from the Shishams Shrine cemetery. The statement noted that the victim was from the Siba Sheikh Khidr complex.
According to the statement, the martyr lost her life during the genocide committed against the Ezidi people, dying as a result of inhumane conditions, including hunger, thirst, and severe health deterioration in the Karsi area. She was buried at the Shishams Shrine under exceptional and extremely difficult circumstances.
The initiative added that, through the persistent efforts of its team and coordination with relevant authorities, it was able to obtain the necessary official and legal approvals to carry out the exhumation. This step comes as part of broader efforts to comprehensively document the crimes of genocide and their victims, and to support survivors and families of victims in their pursuit of justice and accountability.
