Today marks the eleventh anniversary of the occupation of Bashiqa and Bahzani by the terrorist organization ISIS.
ISIS terrorists occupied the “City of Olives,” which led to the displacement of all Ezidi families from the area to the Kurdistan Region.
On this day, eleven years ago, ISIS demolished hundreds of Ezidi homes, in addition to destroying around 22 religious shrines and more than 21 religious symbols. They did not stop there—they also dug up graves and cemeteries, destroyed many factories (such as Tarshi and Rashi among others), as well as shops, and burned hundreds of olive orchards.
Despite all these tragedies, the resilience of the people of Bashiqa and Bahzani stood strong against terrorism. They were able to rebuild their region and erase the traces of ISIS, gradually restoring their city to recovery.
