Statement of Condemnation
The Syrian Ezidi Council strongly and unequivocally condemns the terrorist attack on the residence of the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, carried out using drones, as well as the targeting of Peshmerga forces, safe Kurdish villages, and vital infrastructure. This represents a dangerous escalation and is considered one of the most serious developments since 2003, aiming to destabilize the region and drag Iraq into conflict that threatens the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region and the wider area.
The Syrian Ezidi Council considers that attacks on symbols and institutions constitute a clear violation of all international, humanitarian values, norms, and laws.
While commending the responsible stance of Masoud Barzani and his pivotal and peaceful role in safeguarding security and stability not only in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq but also in Iraq and the broader region, we reaffirm our full solidarity with the Kurdistan Region, its leadership, and its people.
