Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, strongly condemned the attacks that targeted the Region over the past few days, stressing that they continued despite the Kurdistan Region not being a party to the ongoing conflict.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Barzani noted that these attacks, which coincided with ongoing ceasefire negotiations, resulted in the killing of five people and the injury of several others.

He described the assaults as an attempt to undermine the truce and inflict further damage on the region.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for the federal government to take concrete measures to put an end to these attacks.

He also called on international partners to provide the necessary support to protect the citizens of Kurdistan and its energy infrastructure from ongoing threats.

Statement Text:

“We strongly condemn the attacks that have targeted the Kurdistan Region over the past few days, despite the fact that we have not been a party to this conflict.

Despite the existence of a ceasefire agreement and ongoing negotiations, the attacks carried out in recent days have resulted in the killing of five individuals and the injury of many others. We consider this a clear attempt to undermine the truce and cause further harm to our region.

We reiterate the need for the federal government to take practical and effective steps to bring these attacks to an end. We also call on our international partners to provide the necessary equipment and support to protect the people of Kurdistan and its energy infrastructure from these ongoing threats.”
