Under the patronage and presence of H.E. Aydin Marouf, Minister of the Region for Components Affairs, representatives of ethnic and religious components, along with their affiliated civil society organizations, held an extensive consultative meeting to discuss the current situation in the Region. Following the meeting, the participants issued a joint statement including the following positions:
First: Condemnation of attacks and rejection of targeting symbols
The participants strongly condemned the attacks carried out by outlaw groups against the Kurdistan Region, the Peshmerga forces, and the city of Erbil. The statement also strongly denounced the attack targeting the residence of His Excellency the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, considering it a serious violation of the security and stability of the Region.
Second: Federal responsibility and compensation
The components held the Iraqi federal government fully responsible for protecting the sovereignty of the country and preventing unlawful attacks. They also called on the relevant authorities in Baghdad to ensure fair compensation for all citizens and sites affected by these attacks.
Third: Political stance and unity
The statement reaffirmed the components’ full support for the positions of the Kurdistan Regional Government in strengthening security and promoting the values of peaceful coexistence. The participants also emphasized that this sensitive phase requires unity and solidarity among political forces to confront current challenges.
