Masrour Barzani strongly condemned, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, a drone attack targeting the home of a Peshmerga member in Erbil province, which resulted in the death of the fighter and his wife.
In a statement issued today, Barzani said, “We received with deep sorrow the news of the cowardly attack that targeted the home of a Peshmerga fighter, leading to his martyrdom alongside his life partner. We condemn this heinous crime in the strongest terms and firmly denounce the parties behind this act.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that “targeting civilians and residential homes constitutes a clear war crime,” stressing that the Kurdistan Regional Government will make every effort to convey the suffering of the innocent people of Kurdistan to the international community and global forums.
Barzani added, “Through our engagement with the international community, we seek to put an end to these injustices and violations committed against our people, and to halt the repeated attacks carried out under baseless pretexts and unjustified claims.”
He concluded his statement by extending condolences to the victims’ family, reiterating the importance of safeguarding the security and stability of citizens in the Kurdistan Region against any external threats.
