In an unprecedented step, the Iraqi Council of Representatives has decided to publish its session agendas in the Kurdish language for the first time.
This decision comes after agendas had been issued only in Arabic since the parliament was established in 2005, despite Kurdish being recognized as Iraq’s second official language under the constitution.
In this context, the parliament’s media office released, for the first time, the agenda of the upcoming session in Kurdish, scheduled to be held tomorrow, Monday.
A well-informed source stated that parliament has now begun officially publishing session agendas in Kurdish from now on.
Details of the Upcoming Session
According to the media office, the next session will take place on Monday at 11:00 a.m., and its agenda includes:
-
Administering the constitutional oath to several new members of parliament.
-
Voting on the formation of permanent parliamentary committees.
Contrary to expectations, the agenda does not include any item related to electing the President of Iraq, as the issue remains unresolved.
