Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received the French Ambassador to Iraq, Patrick Durel, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and France across various fields. They also discussed the general situation in Iraq and the wider region, exchanging views on the importance of preserving security and stability in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
In another part of the discussions, the Prime Minister stressed the need to reactivate the Kurdistan Parliament, resolve differences in a spirit of responsibility, and end the political deadlock currently affecting the Kurdistan Region.
Both sides also underscored the importance of supporting the federal government in addressing security, economic, and financial challenges.
