The Karkh Criminal Court in Baghdad has sentenced the wife of former ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to death, according to the Supreme Judicial Council on Wednesday.
In a statement from the Iraqi Judicial Council, it was revealed that Asma Mohammed, al-Baghdadi’s wife, was found guilty of collaborating with ISIS, kidnapping Yazidi girls and women in Sinjar, Nineveh province, and detaining and torturing them in her home.
The court’s decision was based on Articles 13 of the Counter-Terrorism Law issued in 2005 and Article 7, paragraph 1 of the Yazidi Survivors Law No. 8 issued in 2021.
