Sufyan Youssef, director of the Article 140 office in Shingal, warned that conducting a general census in the region poses significant risks. He noted that Sinjar remains devastated, with most residents displaced and having migrated abroad. Youssef emphasized that the census would not serve the economic and administrative interests of the area and should be postponed until all residents return. The Iraqi government plans to initiate the census. Iraq has not conducted a population census since 2003, primarily due to political issues and disputes over ethnic and religious classifications.
