Hussein Qaidi: More than 2,000 Yazidi Captives Remain Missing

Sema

In a poignant reminder of the ongoing tragedy, Hussein Qaidi, head of the Office for Rescuing Yazidi Captives from ISIS, shared with Sema that more than 2,000 Yazidis are still unaccounted for since the dark days of the ISIS takeover of Sinjar.

Qaidi revealed that, at that time, 6,417 Yazidis were captured by the terrorists. While 3,577 have been fortunate enough to be rescued, the heart-wrenching reality is that 2,593 individuals remain missing, their families left in a painful limbo of uncertainty.

“We are committed to continuing our efforts to bring home every Yazidi captive,” Qaidi stated, underscoring the urgency and emotional weight of the mission.

On August 3, 2014, ISIS perpetrated horrific acts of genocide against the Yazidi community in Sinjar, leading to the capture, murder, and displacement of thousands. Each missing person represents a story, a family, and a community still healing from wounds that run deep.

The struggle for justice and the return of loved ones continues, reminding us of the resilience and strength of the Yazidi people in the face of unimaginable adversity.
