Kurdistan Regional Government to Complete Sharya Complex School Construction

Sema

The Council of Ministers of the Kurdistan Region has approved the completion of the 18-classroom Community School project in the village of Kharshenia. On Sunday, October 10, 2024, an inauguration ceremony was held at the Lalish Center in Duhok, attended by Alan Hama Saeed, the Minister of Education. During the ceremony, Minister Saeed engaged with directors, supervisors, and teachers from Sinjar, Shekhan, and Talkaif to discuss their proposals and concerns. One of the primary requests was the completion of the Community School project in Kharshenia.

On November 13, 2024, the Council of Ministers issued a directive to the Duhok Governorate to expedite the completion of this project, allocating 710 million dinars. The completion of this school is expected to ease the burden on existing community schools and eliminate the need for double-shift classes. Initially started in 2012, the project was stalled due to a financial crisis. The arrival of a significant number of displaced persons from Sinjar in 2014 further strained community schools, making the completion of this project a priority.
