“I extend my warmest congratulations to the families of our honored martyrs, the brave Peshmerga, and all communities in Kurdistan,” President Masoud Barzani.
President Masoud Barzani extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Kurdistan and beyond on the occasion of Newroz, emphasizing its significance as a symbol of renewal, light, and freedom.
Newroz: A Celebration of Renewal and Freedom
Newroz marks the beginning of spring and the Kurdish New Year, representing a fresh start and the triumph of light over darkness. In his message, Barzani highlighted the importance of Newroz for the Kurdish people, stating that it embodies a new life and heralds victory over oppression.
“I extend my warmest congratulations to the families of our honored martyrs, the brave Peshmerga, and all communities in Kurdistan. I also share my best wishes with all Kurdish people across the different parts of Kurdistan and with nations that consider Newroz an integral part of their history and culture,” Barzani stated.
Barzani also expressed his solidarity with millions of Kurds celebrating Newroz far from their homeland. “Even though you are away from your land, your celebrations reflect the high spirit of our nation. You are always in our thoughts, and your joy is an extension of our own. We take pride in seeing you raising the flag of freedom and dignity during Newroz.”
A Strong Kurdish Identity and a Call for Peace
During a grand ceremony in Cologne, Germany, thousands of Kurds gathered to celebrate Newroz, reaffirming their love and devotion to their homeland. Barzani acknowledged their efforts, stating, “You are the voice and strength of your nation, and I deeply appreciate your unwavering dedication.”
Barzani reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and dialogue. He stressed the importance of preserving Kurdish culture and identity, particularly through collective unity and shared celebrations.
“In this national celebration, we emphasize our message of peace and call for unity among the Kurdish people. We continue to support the peace process in Turkey, believing that dialogue remains the only viable solution for resolving conflicts. Similarly, we hope for an end to the suffering of Kurds in Syria and encourage all parties to work together towards a peaceful resolution that benefits everyone.”
Hope for Stability and Prosperity
Barzani concluded his message by expressing hope that this year’s Newroz would mark the beginning of a period of peace, happiness, and prosperity for all people in Kurdistan, Iraq, and the broader region. “I wish for the people of our region to live in harmony, under the shadow of peace and stability, and to celebrate Newroz and other festivals in joy and unity.”
“Happy Newroz, and may you always celebrate in peace and happiness.”
