His Highness Prince Hazem Tahsin Said, the Prince of the Ezidis in Iraq and the world and Head of the Ezidi Supreme Spiritual Council, visited the British House of Lords. He was accompanied by Princess Mian Khairy Bek (His Highness’s spouse), Dr. Khalaf Al-Sinjari (Advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister on Yazidi Affairs), and Consul Brin Said Tahsin Bek.
During the meeting, His Highness gave a comprehensive overview of the genocide suffered by the Ezidi community at the hands of the terrorist organization ISIS during its occupation of Sinjar on August 3, 2014.
He emphasized that the genocide is still ongoing, as many victims’ remains have yet to be discovered, and mass graves remain scattered across the Sinjar region.
He also pointed out the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe facing the Ezidi community, highlighting the prolonged displacement of Ezidis in refugee camps and the instability in their home regions, which pose a real threat to their survival.
His Highness stressed the importance of the House of Lords supporting efforts to search for the kidnapped Ezidis and uncover their fate following the military defeat of ISIS.
Additionally, he called for Ezidis to be exempt from forced deportation in the UK and Europe due to their exceptional circumstances, and for increased support for the rehabilitation of survivors.
