The Ezidi young man Helmand Hadi Khalat, born in the Sharya Complex in Duhok Governorate, is a candidate for the Cologne City Council in Germany, running on the CDU list, the party of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
According to the Ezidi community in Germany, “Helmand Hadi Khalat” is the voice of youth and diversity, and the voice of Ezidis in Cologne. He carries in his heart the aspirations of our youth and the hopes of the Ezidi community. Through his experience, passion, and belief in collective work—as well as his campaign program—he aims to improve the image of Ezidis, ease their interactions with relevant state institutions and asylum processes, promote diversity and peaceful coexistence, and defend the rights of minorities. He seeks to faithfully and strongly represent the interests of the Ezidi community. In doing so, he will open doors for Ezidi participation in German political life and serve as a bridge between the Ezidi community and the broader society in Cologne.
In this context, Dr. Qaisar Khalat wrote:
