The Barzani Charity Foundation in Erbil recently organized an event to bring joy to Yazidi refugee children who had recently arrived at the Mam Rashan camp from Lebanon. The activity was designed to brighten their spirits, starting with a visit to a horse riding club, where the children had a great time. Following that, they toured Majidi Mall and were given new clothing. To further enhance the experience, a meal was prepared for them, and special care packages were provided for children under the age of one, containing essential items.
These Yazidi children, originally from Afrin in Western Kurdistan, had endured multiple displacements and hardships over the years, living in fear and poor conditions. Most recently, they had been refugees in Lebanon before finding safety and stability in the Kurdistan Region. The Barzani Charity Foundation has been instrumental in supporting their families and improving their circumstances.
The Yazidi families had initially fled the deteriorating situation in Syria and sought refuge in Lebanon, where they faced difficult living conditions. When Lebanon’s situation worsened, they appealed to President Barzani for assistance. The Barzani Charity Foundation responded promptly, relocating the families to the Kurdistan Region, where they now find a safe haven.
