Health Minister Directs Immediate Medical Support for Displaced Ezidi Family Diagnosed with Cancer

Sema

Dr. Saman Barzanji, Minister of Health in the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), has issued instructions to the relevant authorities to ensure urgent medical treatment for a displaced Ezidi family, four of whose members have been diagnosed with cancer.

The move came after Sama Channel published a report highlighting the family’s tragic situation. Following the report, Minister Barzanji personally followed up on the case and mobilized the necessary health institutions to take action.

According to the Minister’s directives, the Duhok Health Directorate has been tasked with contacting the family and providing the required treatment. The Minister confirmed that all necessary facilities will be made available for their care, while other institutions are also coordinating efforts to support the family.

The family originates from Wardiya village in Sinjar and has lived in displacement for the past eleven years in Bajed Kandala camp, near the Zakho autonomous administration border. In addition to the trauma of displacement, they are now facing the burden of a costly illness, with their livelihood depending solely on the father’s daily labor work.

This case underscores both the enduring suffering of displaced Ezidis and the urgent humanitarian needs that continue to emerge within the community.
