Sema

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani issued a statement today, Thursday, September 11, 2025, on the 64th anniversary of the glorious September Revolution, reaffirming commitment to the principles and goals of the revolution, and emphasizing the unity of the Kurdish people and the protection of Kurdistan’s national achievements.

Below is the full text of the statement:

Today, with great pride and honor, we commemorate the anniversary of the glorious September Revolution, a movement led by our national leader, the immortal Barzani. It was a unifying national revolution under which the people of Kurdistan — across all ethnic and religious backgrounds — stood together in defense of their legitimate rights and their dignity in the face of oppression, tyranny, and dictatorship.

The resilience of the Kurdish people, their unity, and their unwavering will led to historic achievements, most notably the March 11, 1970 Agreement, which forced the then-Iraqi regime to acknowledge and formally recognize the rights of the Kurdish people.

As we mark the 64th anniversary of the great September Revolution, we once again reaffirm our commitment to its noble principles and goals — foremost among them: the unity of the Kurdish people, the solidarity of all components and segments of our society, the preservation of our constitutional rights, the safeguarding of our national achievements, and the defense of the constitutional entity of the Kurdistan Region.

Glory to the memory of the triumphant September Revolution.
Peace to the pure souls of the martyrs of the September Revolution and all the martyrs of Kurdistan.

Masrour Barzani
Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government
