The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, on Tuesday condemned what he described as a “treacherous and aggressive” attack targeting Peshmerga positions overnight, confirming the killing of six Peshmerga members and the injury of 30 others in a heavy toll.
In a post on X, Barzani said: “We strongly condemn the treacherous and aggressive attack that targeted Peshmerga positions last night, which resulted in the martyrdom of six of our heroes and the injury of 30 others.”
He vowed a firm response to these violations, stating: “We will take all necessary measures and actions to confront this blatant aggression targeting the Kurdistan Region,” while stressing the need for concerned parties to act to stop such attacks.
Barzani also called on the federal government in Baghdad and the international community to “put an end to these repeated aggressive attacks” and ensure that violations of the region’s sovereignty and security are not repeated.
He concluded by offering his condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack.
