Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, extended his congratulations on Wednesday (April 15, 2026) to the Ezidi community on the occasion of the Ezidi New Year, stressing that “the Kurdistan Region will remain, as always, a homeland of coexistence, tolerance, and acceptance of others among all components, and we will always continue to support and defend their legitimate rights and demands.”
In a statement, he said:
“I extend my warmest congratulations to all our Ezidi sisters and brothers and citizens in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world on the occasion of the Ezidi New Year.”
He added:
“I wish everyone a safe and joyful holiday, and I hope that the new year will be a beginning of a year full of success and security.”
He further stated that on this occasion, “we reaffirm to our Ezidi sisters and brothers that the Kurdistan Region will remain, as always, a homeland of coexistence, tolerance, and acceptance of others among all components, and we will always be supportive and defenders of their legitimate rights and demands.”
He concluded his statement by saying:
