The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Council of Ministers held its weekly meeting today, Wednesday, chaired by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and attended by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Council strongly condemned the terrorist attacks targeting the Kurdistan Region, particularly the recent assaults on oil fields, which caused significant material damage to production operations. The Council emphasized that the aim of these attacks is to undermine the Region’s economic and energy infrastructure, and called on the federal government to assume its responsibilities and take the necessary legal measures against the perpetrators.

The Council then discussed several items on the agenda, primarily the Region’s financial situation and the ongoing negotiations with the federal government concerning salaries and financial entitlements.

The Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister presented a detailed overview of the mutual understanding reached yesterday in Baghdad, which pertains to securing financial entitlements and salaries for the Region’s employees in exchange for specific commitments by the Kurdistan Government.

Following deliberations, the Council of Ministers welcomed the agreement and stressed the importance of its implementation, noting that the federal government will begin sending the salaries and financial entitlements owed to the Kurdistan Region as per the agreement.
