Good News for Ezidi Survivors
In a significant and compassionate move, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, H. E. Masrour Barzani, has issued a directive to the KRG Council of Ministers, as well as the Ministries of Higher Education and Education, aimed at supporting the educational journey of Ezidi survivors of ISIS captivity.
🎓 Free Education in Private Universities and Institutes
According to the directive, Ezidi survivors will no longer be required to pay any tuition fees for attending private universities and institutes within the Kurdistan Region. The KRG will fully cover the cost of their education, easing a major financial burden on survivors.
Furthermore, the directive includes facilitated admission procedures, especially for those pursuing postgraduate programs such as higher diplomas, master’s degrees, and PhDs.
💰 Monthly Financial Support for Survivors
Based on the same initiative by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, Ezidi survivors have been receiving monthly financial support for over a year. As of now, 3,575 survivors—men, women, and children of all ages, whether residing in the Kurdistan Region, elsewhere in Iraq, or abroad—have benefited from this crucial aid.
🏛️ Partnership with Lalish Cultural and Social Center
For the past three years, the Lalish Cultural and Social Center has submitted multiple proposals aimed at improving the lives of Ezidi survivors. All of these proposals have been gratefully approved by Prime Minister Barzani, highlighting his continued commitment to the community.
📚 Ongoing Support for Academic, Cultural, and Social Rehabilitation
In his latest directive, H. E. Masrour Barzani has emphasized the need for expanding the scope of services provided to Ezidi survivors. This includes not only educational support, but also cultural, psychological, and social rehabilitation programs, to help survivors rebuild their lives with dignity and opportunity.
