President Masoud Barzani on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, issued a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Democratic Students and Youth Union, praising the organization’s historic and struggle-driven role in Kurdistan’s liberation journey.
In his message, President Barzani stated:
“On the 73rd anniversary of the establishment of the Kurdistan Democratic Students and Youth Union, I extend my warmest congratulations to the secretariat, members of the secretariat office, and all dear students and youth in Kurdistan, wishing them continued success and progress.”
Barzani emphasized that throughout the Ayloul Revolution, the Gulan Revolution, the Uprising, and other pivotal stages, the union has served as “a school for preparing fighters, patriots, and capable cadres,” highlighting its recognized role in supporting the Peshmerga forces and the liberation struggle of the people of Kurdistan, as well as the great sacrifices it has made.
He also stressed the responsibilities entrusted to students and youth, saying:
“The duty of student and youth organizations in all circumstances and stages is to remain committed to the noble values of the Kurdayeti path (the Kurdish cause), and to serve the higher goals of the people of Kurdistan by spreading national awareness and strengthening national self-confidence within society.”
President Barzani concluded his message by praying for continued success, الخير, and prosperity for the students and youth.
