Young Ezidi candidate Atto Sheikh Dakhil, originally from the village of Hardan in Sinjar district, has announced his candidacy for the upcoming Swedish parliamentary elections scheduled for September.
Following the announcement of his candidacy under Sweden’s Centre Party, Dakhil released a statement outlining his vision and goals:
“Based on my strong belief in your abilities and your valuable trust, I announce my candidacy through the Swedish Centre Party, with the aim of actively participating in society and contributing to decision-making. I firmly believe in the importance of meaningful youth engagement in Swedish political life today.
This decision is not merely a passing step, but a sincere commitment to ensuring our real presence and our voices being heard under the dome of parliament. I am running today because I believe that justice is not merely a slogan to be raised, but a right that we secure through advocacy, and that equality is not a distant dream, but a reality we create together through our determination.
I strive to be your honest voice, carrying your concerns without hesitation and defending the rights of everyone without exception. My ambition is for us to work side by side in building a stronger and more stable future for ourselves and for future generations in Sweden.
This is not simply an election campaign; it is a pledge of hard work, complete transparency, and a firm commitment to standing with you on all issues affecting your lives and aspirations.
With your support, we create change — and with your votes, we shape the future.”
Dakhil’s candidacy marks another step in growing youth participation and representation within Sweden’s political landscape, while also reflecting the increasing engagement of the Ezidi diaspora in public and political life.
