Today, Saturday, November 9, 2024, the Kurdish Culture Administration Conference began its sessions in Diyarbakir, Turkey, focusing on a range of important topics related to Kurdish culture, history, and identity.
The conference brings together representatives from various Kurdish religious groups and sects, including Yarsan and Alevi, as well as linguists, cultural scholars, historians, and Kurdish figures from all parts of Kurdistan. This gathering offers a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and mutual understanding, celebrating the diversity and coexistence that characterizes the Kurdish community.
From the Lalish Center, Said Jerdo, President of the High Council, will present a paper titled “Yazidism: History and Geography,” while Khairy Ibrahim Kuro, a member of the High Council, will discuss “Yazidism: Beliefs and Traditions.” These presentations shed light on the key aspects of the Yezidi religious and cultural identity.
The conference will run for several days and is being held in Diyarbakir for the second time. This annual event aims to raise awareness about the diverse Kurdish religious denominations and sects, fostering deeper dialogue and understanding among the various Kurdish communities.
It is important to note that the conference’s main office is based in Istanbul, and its overarching goal is to promote knowledge and awareness of Kurdish religious diversity, while strengthening unity and solidarity among the Kurdish people.
