Iraqi authorities repatriated more than 160 families associated with the “Islamic State” (ISIS) from the Al-Hol camp in the countryside of Hasakah.

According to sources, more than 161 families, totaling 607 individuals, will leave the camp after completing the necessary logistical and technical procedures.

The sources added that buses sent by the Iraqi government, accompanied by protection from U.S. forces, will transport the families to the Iraqi border, and from there, they will be taken to the Jad’ah camp in Nineveh Governorate.

It was also noted that work is ongoing between the camp administration and Iraqi authorities to facilitate the voluntary return of all Iraqis wishing to return to their homeland, with expectations that the current pace of repatriations will result in the evacuation of all Iraqis wishing to return by the end of this year.

This repatriation batch is the 23rd in the process of returning Iraqis from the Al-Hol camp to their country since 2022.

The repatriation operations for Iraqi families from the camp have seen a significant increase since the end of last year. On February 24, the “Self-Administration” organized the fifth batch of 2025, which included 167 families with approximately 618 individuals.

On February 8, 155 Iraqi families, totaling 569 individuals, left the camp heading towards Iraq, while 86 Iraqi families, with 500 people, left at the beginning of the same month.

The Al-Hol camp, located in the countryside of Hasakah Governorate, currently houses more than 15,600 Syrians distributed among 4,300 families, in addition to approximately 15,000 Iraqis from 4,330 families. The camp also holds 6,389 individuals from 45 different nationalities, including citizens from France, Sweden, the Netherlands, Russia, Turkey, Tunisia, and Egypt, the majority of whom are from the families of ISIS members.
