Sema

His Highness Prince Hazim Tahseen Saeed, the Prince of the Ezidis in Iraq and the world and President of the Ezidi Supreme Spiritual Council, received a technical delegation from the Iraqi Ministries of Construction, Housing, and Federal Municipalities, which is overseeing the reconstruction and restoration of part of the sacred Lalish Temple.

During the meeting, Prince Hazim welcomed the delegation and praised the efforts of Dr. Khalaf Sinjari, Adviser to the Iraqi Prime Minister on Ezidi Affairs, for submitting a proposal to restore Lalish at the expense of the Iraqi government. He also commended the role of the Endowment Office for Christians, Ezidis, and Sabean Mandaeans, as well as Mr. Dasin Qawal Suleiman, the religious and cultural deputy head of the office.

The Prince expressed his gratitude to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani for his attention to Lalish Temple and for allocating financial support to restore it according to its traditional architectural style.

He emphasized that Lalish is the oldest temple of the Ezidi faith, visited by Ezidis from Iraq and across the world, as well as by ambassadors, consuls, diplomatic missions, government officials, and tourists from many countries.

Prince Hazim also noted that parts of the Lalish Temple had previously been restored through funding from the Kurdistan Regional Government, grants from the U.S. Embassy, and donations from Ezidi benefactors who contributed to the renovation of several shrines.
