Ezidi survivor Sanaa Ali Haji, from the Kocho residential complex in northern Mount Sinjar, has graduated with a degree in Office Management.

Sana was among the thousands of Ezidis abducted by ISIS during the 2014 genocide in Sinjar. She was kidnapped along with nine members of her family, including her father, mother, brothers, and sisters.

After enduring years of unimaginable suffering, captivity, and some of the worst atrocities committed by ISIS, she was eventually freed and later moved to Germany for medical treatment.

Today, Sanaa celebrates a remarkable milestone, dedicating her achievement to her family and her father, who remains missing.

“My father, I have finally graduated. Although I was unable to achieve this in Iraq, it was always my dream to graduate there,” she wrote.

Alongside a graduation photo, Sanaa shared the following message:

“At last… I made it, Dad.

After years of pain, captivity, abduction, and starting a new life in Germany, today I stand proudly holding my certificate.

Since childhood, I dreamed of one day having a career, and it was also my father’s dream for me. He has remained missing since the genocide.

In Germany, I found my rights as an Ezidi woman and was given the opportunity to build a new future. Although I was unable to complete a university degree, I refused to give up. Instead, I enrolled in vocational training in Office Management, worked hard, and achieved my goal. Today, I am finally reaping the rewards of that effort.

My heartfelt thanks go to my mother and to everyone who stood by me, believed in me, and supported me throughout this journey.

As for you, Dad… I succeeded, but without you.

Despite everything I have endured, I have learned that circumstances may change our path, but they cannot stop us from reaching our dreams. As long as hope remains alive and our determination is strong, everyone has the opportunity to begin again and build a better future.”
