Deniz Undav, the Ezidi striker and Kurdish star of VfB Stuttgart, led his team to victory in the German Cup, securing qualification for next season’s UEFA Europa League.
The final, held at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, saw Stuttgart face Arminia Bielefeld.
After just 15 minutes, Nick Woltemade opened the scoring for Stuttgart.
In the 22nd minute, Deniz Undav delivered an assist to Enzo Millot, who netted the second goal.
Only six minutes later, Undav found the back of the net himself, sealing the first half with a dominant 3-0 lead.
In the 65th minute, Millot added his second goal, making it 4-0 for Stuttgart.
Yukinari Sugawara scored for Arminia in the 82nd minute, followed by an own goal by Joshua Vagnoman, giving Bielefeld their second.
The match ended 4-2 in Stuttgart’s favor, crowning them German Cup champions and officially qualifying them for the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League. This marks the club’s fourth German Cup title in history.
Deniz Undav, 28, was born in Germany to an Ezidi family originally from Rûha (Urfa) in Northern Kurdistan.
A rising star in German football, he currently plays as a forward for VfB Stuttgart and was recently called up to the German national team.
Before joining Stuttgart, Undav played for Brighton & Hove Albion in the English Premier League, where he demonstrated his skill and left a strong impression with his performances.
