The British Government Reaffirms Support for the Ezidis and Prioritizes the Genocide Case

The British government has reiterated its unwavering support for the Ezidi people and affirmed that the case of the Ezidi genocide has become a priority issue for the United Kingdom.

A few days ago, Prince Hazim Tahseen Beg, Prince of the Ezidis in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world, visited the United Kingdom along with Mayan Kheiri Beg, an Ezidi woman activist; Dr. Khalaf Shingali, Advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister on Ezidi Affairs; and Consul Brin Tahseen Beg. During their visit, the delegation met with British officials and government representatives.

On this occasion, Kheiri Shingali, Secretary to the Ezidi Prince, announced to the media:
“During his visit to the UK, the Prince held several productive meetings, including with Lord Collins—the UK Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict—and David Smith, the UK Government’s Envoy for Freedom of Religion and Belief. He also met with members of the British General Assembly.”

He added:
“In these meetings, the Prince gave a detailed overview of the current situation of the Ezidi people, emphasizing that the genocide is ongoing. Many mass graves in the Shingal region remain unopened, and the remains of countless victims have not been recovered. The Ezidi community continues to face a severe humanitarian crisis. Thousands remain in refugee camps, and the lack of security in their home areas poses a real threat to their existence. The Prince called for the UK’s legal and humanitarian support, particularly in seeking justice and uncovering the fate of those still missing after the defeat of the ISIS terrorist organization.”

The Prince also appealed for Ezidi asylum seekers in the UK not to be forcibly returned and urged cooperation in supporting and rehabilitating genocide survivors.

British officials, including the Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence and the Minister for Human Rights, assured the delegation of the UK’s full and continued support. They stated:
“In every discussion we hold concerning the Middle East, we raise the Ezidi issue and emphasize the importance of their humanitarian cause.”

It was also revealed that Prince Hazim has extended his diplomatic mission beyond the UK and is now touring several European countries, where he plans to visit multiple national parliaments. His goal is to amplify the voice of the Ezidi people, particularly as the anniversary of the August 3rd genocide approaches.

This visit by the Ezidi Prince to the UK and Europe is of significant importance—not only for raising awareness about the Ezidi faith, but also for securing international support and preventing future genocides against the Ezidi community.
