Prince Hazim Saeed Meets German Parliament Vice President to Discuss Ezidi Rights and Justice

Sema

His Highness Prince Hazim Tahsin Saeed, (Ezidi Prince in Iraq and worldwide, and Head of the Supreme Spiritual Ezidi Council), received Ms. Brivan Imas, Vice President of the Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, along with her accompanying delegation, today, Monday, February 2, 2026, at the sacred Lalish Temple.

After welcoming the visiting delegation, Prince Hazim provided a detailed explanation of the atrocities committed against the Ezidis, including the genocidal acts by ISIS against innocent Ezidis in Sinjar on August 3, 2014.

He expressed his happiness at the visit of delegations from Germany, emphasizing the importance of witnessing the conditions in the displacement camps firsthand. He highlighted the suffering of Ezidis and the harsh conditions in the camps during both hot summers and cold winters, noting that this continues to constitute part of the ongoing genocide.

Prince Hazim stressed the importance of Germany’s efforts to pressure countries and international forums to find a solution for the safe, dignified return of Ezidi displaced persons to their homes. He also emphasized Germany’s role in ensuring that Ezidis are not forcibly returned from Germany, given the extremely difficult circumstances they face. He noted that Ezidis now consider Germany their second homeland due to the supportive conditions and Germany’s recognition of the Ezidi genocide in Sinjar.

For her part, Ms. Brivan Imas stated that many Ezidis in Germany are their friends and neighbors, and that the Ezidi community in her state is large, respected, and valued. She expressed regret at seeing Ezidis still living in camps under extremely difficult humanitarian conditions, noting the painful events that occurred in Sinjar.

She affirmed the importance of Prince Hazim’s remarks and pledged that Germany will work on an intensive program to prevent the forced return of Ezidis. She emphasized the need to work together to ensure justice for the Ezidi community, survivors, and victims, as what happened to the Ezidis constitutes genocide, and stressed the importance of enacting laws and programs to prevent a recurrence of such tragedies.

She also noted that Germany is working with the Ministry of Justice to follow up on Ezidi issues and ensure that ISIS members are held accountable, so that no one escapes justice.

The visiting delegation toured the temple’s premises, where Mr. Karim Suleiman, Advisor to the Supreme Spiritual Ezidi Council, provided a detailed explanation of the main religious rites and ceremonies at Lalish Temple throughout the year.
