As part of the first phase, 3,000 displaced individuals are registered for the issuance of national ID cards in the displacement camps. The work team continues its field efforts to register displaced persons and issue national ID cards. The first phase included visits to five camps: Sharya, Khanki, Qadia, Kabrto, and Bajed Kandala, during which over 3,000 displaced individuals were registered.

In Sharya camp, 700 displaced persons were issued national ID cards and received them within just 20 days. Additionally, more than 400 cards were issued to individuals from various areas, including members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Branch 17, as well as emergency cases that contacted the office.

The procedures for Khanki camp have been completed, and the cards are expected to be distributed to the displaced persons in the coming days. Currently, displaced individuals in Qadia camp are heading to the National ID office to complete their fingerprinting, followed by those from Bajed Kandala camps to finalize their paperwork.

The work team is scheduled to be in Kabrto camp on Thursday, accompanied by a petition writer, to provide support and assistance to displaced persons in completing their procedures and ensure they are registered in the official system.

Every day, between 100 and 150 displaced individuals complete their fingerprinting at the National ID office, which helps accelerate the process of issuing the cards. This process takes approximately 20 days, in contrast to other areas where the waiting period can extend to two months or more.

We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the National ID office in Dohuk for their significant efforts in facilitating procedures for the displaced. The work team reaffirms its commitment to continue its efforts until the registration and issuance of ID cards are completed for all displaced persons in all camps, with periodic stages to ensure that everyone receives this service.
